Located in Esperance, the client operates a local agricultural machinery service business as well as a contract harvesting service. Wheatbelt Steel were involved midway through 2010 as he needed a large shed in which to perform his increasing servicing work and to store his harvesting machinery in. Clear and easy access for machinery and a future gantry crane provision were requested to be incorporated into the structure’s design.
WHEATBELT STEEL’S ANSWER
The shed designed was a fully enclosed (48m x 27m x 8m) structure that included a 6m cantilever awning cover on the east side along with four (8m) sliding doors attached to two (16m) clearspan trusses, which deliver a wide 32m opening with just one column in the middle. Full shed length crane rails were incorporated into the shed’s design to enable the installation of an overhead gantry crane.
