Broome Western Australia

Broome is the largest town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, located over 1500kms from the state capital of Perth.

The area now known as Broome is the traditional lands of the Yawuru people, and is still known as Rubibi by the Yaruwu today.

A coastal pearling and tourist town, located in the tropical regions  of the Kimberley coast, Broome was first settled by Europeans in 1883.

Broome is considered of palaeontological significance after some of the largest known dinosaur footprints were found in the fossil trackways near Gantheaume Point.

The area around Broome has a hot semi-arid climate, despite its tropical and coastal location, being considered too dry to be a tropical savanna climate, only receiving a little over 625mm of rainfall on average each year, and less than 50 days of annual rainfall.

Much like other Australian tropics it has a wet season and a dry season, with much of the rainfall coming in traditional summer months, often coming in the form of cyclones or thunderstorms. This rainfall is erratic and unpredictable, and the lowest January average of 2.8mm of rainfall (1922) is in stark contrast to the highest of 945.4mm (2018).

While Broome’s major economic industries are related to pearling and tourism, there are farms in Broome renowned for their high quality produce, which include watermelons, corn, mangoes and other vegetables. Farms and stations near Broome also house significant numbers of beef cattle for WA’s strong livestock industry.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
