Bullsbrook Western Australia
Bullsbrook is a rural suburb of the City of Swan, located approximately 35 kilometers to the north east of Perth.
The town was named after the “Bull’s Brook” watercourse, which ran adjacent to the area, and was settled shortly after the Midland Railway opened in 1895.
The Bullsbrook area was traditionally inhabited by the Whadjuk Noongar people, and European settlement began in the 1890s.
Bullsbrook is a rural hub for farms and studs in the region, as well as the location of the RAAF Pierce airbase, a major training facility for the Royal Australian Airforce.
Bullsbrook has a Mediterranean climate much like the rest of the Perth Metropolitan Region, and the Bureau of Meteorology operates a weather station out of the RAAF Base Pearce within the town’s limits. Bullsbrook averages just over 650mm of rainfall a year, with most of this coming in the winter months, and an average maximum of over 30 degrees from December through to March.
Most of the agriculture found around Bullsbrook is cattle, although there are a number of fruit and vegetable growers in the region who sell to major chains as well as in small roadside stalls.
