Busselton is a regional city in the South West region of Western Australia, just over 50 kilometers from each Bunbury and Margaret River.
For over 40,000 years the Busselton area has been home to people from the Wardandi and Bibulman Noongar language groups, and the area was known as Undalup before colonialisation.
Busselton has always had a strong tourism sector, but for along time the town was also an important port for the South West, prior to the closure of the Busselton Port in 1972.
Busselton has had city status since 2012, and continues to thrive as a tourism centre and retirement location thanks to its proximity to both Bunbury and the Margaret River wine region.
Busselton is home to a warm Mediterranean climate, with summer temperatures often above 30 degrees and rainfall mostly coming between May and September, with an average rainfall coming in just under 700mm a year.
While the region’s economic focus has shifted from agriculture to tourism and services, the region is still home to a strong agricultural sector, with growers producing fruit and vegetables, and graziers running sheep and cattle on the grasses in the area.
