Cunderdin Western Australia

Cunderdin is a town in the wheatbelt region of Perth, along the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme’s Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail, around 50 kilometers east of Northam.

The traditional owners of the lands now known as the Shire of Cunderdin are the Ballardong Noongar people.

The first reported European visitor to the area was in 1864, and the name Cunderdin was based on the Noongar name for a nearby hill, and is thought to mean “place of bandicoot” or “place of flowers”.

Like many small towns in the area, Cunderdin developed as a stop-off town during the gold rush in the WA Goldfields and was further bolstered by the development of the C. Y. O’Connor’s pipeline.

As with most places in Western Australia when you get more than 100 kilometers from the coast, Cunderdin is quite dry, and is home to a semi arid climate, recording just a little over 350mm of rainfall a year. Despite this a specific species of shrub – the Cunderdin Daviesia – is believed to only grow in the area.

Cunderdin is a primarily farming and agriculturally based town, and is home to an agricultural college, and the main farming in the area is sheep, cattle, pigs and wheat. According to the ABS over half a million hectares of land in Cunderdin was used for agricultural purposes.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.

Machinery Shed & Workshop - Cunderdin, WA

“I got tired of performing maintenance work out in the weather and needed to protect my machines better! I contacted Wheatbelt and was impressed by their knowledge and service. Scott did a brilliant job of putting it up too. Very happy with the shed, only regret is that I didn’t make it bigger!”
