Donnybrook Western Australia

Donnybrook is a town in the South West region of Western Australia, located between Boyanup and Kirup and the sister town of Balingup.

Donnybrook was traditionally known as Minninup by the traditional Noongar peoples of the area, meaning meeting place, and the eastern part of the town had this name until the mid 1900’s.

Known for its abundance of picturesque English Oak trees, and its apple growing, Donnybrook was first gazetted as a town in 1894 for farming, however, gold was discovered nearby soon after.

Today the town is a rural hub and thriving community, with a strong tourism sector as well as agricultural industry. Donnybrook is home to Australia’s largest known English Oak believed to have been planted a year before the town was founded in 1983.

Donnybrook – like much of the South West – is home to a mild Mediterranean climate. The summers are usually dry and warm with the occasional downpour, while winters are cool and wet with more sustained precipitation, with an average rainfall of just over 950mm a year.

While there is a lot of hobby farming and broadacre farming in Donnybrook, much like surrounding towns and shires, the major agricultural feature is its apples, and the town is the centre of apple cultivation in the state. The town’s industry also includes timber, beef, dairy and viticulture, and attracts many backpackers who work picking fruit. The nearby town of Balingup hosts the annual Small Farm Field Days, which attract people from the surrounding agricultural regions.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
