Jerramungup is a town and shire located in the Great Southern agricultural region of Western Australia, just west of the Gairdner River.
Jerramungup is a local Koreng Noongar word which roughly translates to place of the tall yate trees, after the local flora that grow up to 20m tall throughout the region, with yellowish green flowers.
First settled by Europeans in 1948, the town itself was established in 1953 to support a war service land settlement project.
