Kimberley Region Western Australia

The Kimberley is the northernmost of Western Australia’s nine major agricultural regions, and is bordered by the Timor Sea, Indian Ocean, Great Sandy Desert and Tanami Desert.

The Kimberley is one of the earliest settled parts of Australia, with the first humans arriving around 65,000 years ago and building a complex culture that evolved over the following millennia.

The worship of Wandjina deities was most common in this region, and a complex theology dealing with the transmigration of souls was part of the local people’s religious philosophy. The area first began to be settled by Europeans in 1879.

The Kimberley has a tropical monsoon climate. The region receives the vast majority of its rainfall during the short wet season, from November to April, when cyclones are common and the rivers flood. The Kimberley is one of the hottest parts of Australia, with the average annual temperature around 27 degrees, and average maximum temperatures almost always above 30 degrees.

The Kimberley has a diverse and varied economy, with mining and tourism playing large roles, along with a strong agricultural and farming sector. This agricultural sector includes a series of cattle stations grazing beef cattle, as well as agriculture around the Ord River which includes melons, mangoes and sandalwood.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
