Newdegate Western Australia

Newdegate is a townsite in the Shire of Lake Grace in Western Australia, on the border of the Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Esperance-Goldfields regions.

The area around Newdegate and its surrounding areas in the Shire of Lake Grace were traditionally inhabited by the Njakinjaki people, who covered some 30,000 square kilometers from Lake King up to Victoria Rock.

Europeans first began to settle the area in the early 1900’s, and the town is named for Sir Francis Newdegate, who was the outgoing Governor of Western Australia at the time of foundation.

Today, the town hosts the popular annual Newdegate Machinery Field Days, and attracts people from all across the Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance regions.

The climate in Newdegate is a semi-arid climate, or steppe climate region, with long, hot and dry summers, followed by cool, wetter winters with modest rainfall. The town receives an annual rainfall of just over 350mm a year, with around 50 rainy days annually.

The area around Newdegate is used for broadacre farming, primarily wheat and other cereal crops, including barley and lupins, and there are also a number of sheep and cattle graziers in the region, whose produce is on display at the annual Newdegate Field Days.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
