Onslow Western Australia

Onslow is a coastal town in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, just over 250km from the City of Karratha.

The Thalanyji people are the traditional owners of the lands around the town now known as Onslow, where they lived undisturbed for 40,000 years until 1860.

The original town of Onslow was gazetted as a townsite on 26 October 1885 and named after Sir Alexander Onslow, intended to support nearby mining communities.

Today the town’s agriculture is dwindling and the shire has turned much of its attention to tourism, using the coastal views and ruins of Old Onslow as attractions.

Onslow has a hot desert climate having very little year round rainfall with most of it falling hotter wet season from February to June. Despite the coastal location of the town Onslow only records 275mm of rainfall a year on average.

Onslow’s primary industry has always been wool, however the purchasing power of wool has decreased over time, causing the town to swivel to tourism and fishing industries, due to the plentiful coral reefs offshore from the town.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed.
