Perth Western Australia

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, and the largest city on the western half of Australia and fourth largest in Oceania.

The area around Perth was traditionally inhabited by the Noongar people, and was known as Boorloo, which translates roughly to “Big Swamp”.

Despite first being colonised by Europeans in 1929 amidst rumours the French were intending to annex the area, Perth was first sighted by Dutch explorers in the late 17th century, and it was them who initially named the Swan River.

Perth receives moderate though highly seasonal rainfall, and is home to a hot-summer Mediterranean climate. Summers are generally hot and dry, and despite rainfall typically experienced every month of the year, less than 100mm falls between October and April annually of the 730mm Perth receives each year.

With its 250 sunny days a year, and average 3200 sunshine hours, Perth is considered to be the sunniest city in Australia, and one of the sunniest cities in the world, making it a popular tourist destination, however, It is also one of the most isolated major cities, with Jakarta and East Timor closer than Sydney or Melbourne.

Perth remains the regional headquarters for the bulk of Western Australia’s significant mining and agricultural operations, and is the only city with more than a million residents within 2000 kilometers. Western Australia’s agricultural food industry is heavily export orientated, and this includes rangelands for sheep and cattle grazing, broadacre farming for both cropping and livestock, as well as strong horticulture and viticulture industries.

The largest areas of production in Western Australia are cereals, meat and livestock products, and pulses pastures and oilseeds, and approximately half of Western Australia’s food, fibre and fisheries production is exported annually.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, so if whether you need a Workshop Shed, Machinery Shed, Hay Shed, Fertiliser Shed, Grain Shed, Aircraft Hangar, Shearing Shed, Equestrian Shed, or any type of farm shed, Wheatbelt Steel will ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
