Tom Price Western Australia

Tom Price is a mining town and inland agricultural community in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, and is the highest town above sea level in the state.

Tom Price is the closest town to the Karijini National Park, and is the lands of the Guruma people, who have inhabited the Eastern Pilbara for thousands of years.

While there were graziers and pastoralists in the region prior, the area wasn’t settled by Europeans until a mining community was needed in the area to service the Mount Tom Price mine less than 5 kilometres out of town.

The town today is still primarily a mining town, but is a thriving cultural hub for the inland region, with a large number of artists and athletes, as well as recreational centres.

Being an inland hub in the Pilbara region, Tom Price is unsurprisingly hot and mostly dry, with a hot semi arid climate encompassing the region. The town spends the majority of the year above 20 degrees, with minimums only dropping below 10 degrees for two to three months a year. Tom Price averages just over 300mm of rainfall a year.

The economic activity in Tom Price is primarily mining based, however there are a range of pastoral leases and cattle stations used for agricultural purposes throughout the Shire of Ashburton, who use the nearby Port Headland for exports and market reach.

Farm sheds serve a variety of purposes in Western Australia, with such a diverse and strong agricultural industry, and this means a wide range of available farm sheds need to be available for the state’s farmers to choose from and customise.

Wheatbelt Steel offer a range of farm sheds for all industries, including Workshops, Machinery Sheds, Hay Sheds, Fertiliser Sheds, Grain Sheds, Aircraft Hangars, Shearing Sheds Equestrian Sheds and more, to ensure that your needs are not just met, but exceeded.

These sheds can be customised with roller doors or sliding doors, windows, skylights or ventilation, insulation or open bays, mezzanine floors, offices and more.

Buying a shed can be a confusing time, as there is a lot of information to process – particularly if it is your first shed, or your first time purchasing a shed. The experts at Wheatbelt Steel have been providing quality farm sheds to Western Australians for more than 40 years, and are available to help answer any questions and guide you to the best decision for you and your farm when it comes to your new shed.
